Board of Health reorganizes; approves air sensor grant and septic upgrade.

Mendon Board of Health reorganizes leadership and approves initiatives. Chairman Alan Greenberg and Vice-Chairman Tom Fichtner were re-elected unanimously. The board approved a Local Upgrade for a failed septic system at 62 Millville Street, allowing a three-foot offset to groundwater under Title 5 standards.
The board also welcomed notification of a MassDEP Air Sensor Grant award of five Purple Air Sensors at no cost, to be placed across the town to monitor fine particulate matter. Ken Elstein presented Nicotine Free Generation, a policy adopted by 24 municipalities that would end legal sales of commercial tobacco and nicotine products to anyone born after a specified date. The board approved a new meeting minutes layout with line numbers and a summer schedule reducing meetings to one per month June through August.
