Mendon Council on Aging flags fire-safety gaps, touts $30,000 in volunteer value. Director Amy Wilson Kent told the board a Tri-Valley Elder Services inspection found the senior center lacked a written fire and tornado evacuation plan, prompting a two-day turnaround draft from emergency-management contact Mark Bucchino. Members approved the March meeting minutes and treasurer's report by unanimous voice votes, with no other formal votes taken.
The food pantry logged three new households this month amid rising grocery costs, backed by $600 in donations, including $200 from Milford business PIDC. Co-Chair Peg Nogueira, Wilson Kent and member Phil Cieply said a recent Select Board budget presentation converted volunteer hours into roughly $30,000 in value, with the Friends of Mendon Elders adding another $7,000 to $12,000. The board also reviewed, without voting, draft bylaw revisions and a funding agreement with the Friends of Mendon Elders.
