Town Meeting · Meeting of October 27, 2026

Mendon Town Meeting voted to convert the town clerk from an elected to an appointed position, sending the change to a spring ballot question. Town Clerk Ellen Agro made the motion, arguing the role now requires "skills, credentials, and performance rather than campaign popularity." Voters also approved $582,202 for the stabilization fund, $150,829 in supplemental departmental spending and $100,000 for roadway repairs after residents, including 48-year Misco Road resident William Rousley, pressed Highway Superintendent Jonathan Dudley on long-neglected potholes. Dudley said the town has completed nearly $800,000 in road work this summer and named Misco Road, Wood Drive and West Hill Road as the next priorities.

Town Administrator Jeremy Stull reported the town closed fiscal 2026 with $2,042,000 in free cash, of which $1.2 million was appropriated Tuesday across 21 warrant articles, including a $50,000 feasibility study on reusing 8 Morrison Drive and the Taft Public Library rectory.
