Parks Commission · Meeting of July 28, 2026

MENDON — The Mendon Parks Commission detailed road closures and logistics for the town's August 2 Mock Signing event while working through a backlog of capital projects. Parks Director Dan Byer told commissioners Main Street will close near the park at 2:45 p.m. and detour traffic until roughly 4 p.m., with fireworks set for 9 p.m. Byer said engineer Mark Allen of Allen Engineering is researching whether the beach bathroom's existing leaching field can be reused instead of replaced.

A commissioner called it "longer to pump, but a hell of a lot cheaper." The camera project will proceed on three written quotes under the $10,000 revolving-fund threshold. Commissioners also discussed requiring baseball and softball organizations to submit official tournament schedules by May 1 to end recurring last-minute scheduling conflicts. No formal votes were taken.
