MENDON — The Mendon Conservation Commission discussed a future bylaw letting the building inspector withhold permits pending wetlands review, amid an ongoing search for a conservation agent. Vice Chair Carl Hommel said current law does not let the building inspector delay a permit just because "the Conservation Commission wants to put a hold on it," and pointed to the Historic District Commission's bylaw as a model for change. Chairman Robert Sweet said the board interviewed three finalists from an initial field of about 15 applicants for the vacant conservation agent post, left by Isabella Genova roughly two weeks earlier, with Jack McClellan filling in on an interim basis.
The board also continued hearings on notices of intent for 109 Uxbridge Road and 8 Sandra Circle, voted unanimously to accept a certificate of compliance for an Uxbridge Road property, and got an update that a $100,000 state DCR grant for Muddy Brook and Maple Farm trails must be fully spent by December 2027.
