Mendon library trustees approve new policies, review a $367,560 fiscal 2027 budget and multimillion-dollar rectory rebuild options. The board unanimously approved a solicitation policy and an employee emergency procedures document, while the library director presented a fiscal 2027 budget $21,660 above the current year, built on a 6 percent salary increase and two added Monday service hours. A study valued rebuilding the library's current Providence Street site at roughly $9 million versus $11 million to $13 million for new construction elsewhere, with a Morrison Drive option ruled out.
Trustees also questioned an unexpected $230 monthly copier lease fee, with the director saying, "I'm like, what is LEAF? I have no idea what this is." Children's yoga attendance has "exploded," and a Robin Williams-themed event drew 29 attendees, up from 12 previously.
