Library Trustees Briefed On Town's Building Plan
Library · Meeting of August 14, 2026
Mendon library trustees flag stalled gazebo oversight while hearing a sweeping town building plan. Library Director Andrew reported the library closed fiscal 2026 having spent 96.8 percent of its salary budget, leaving just 2 percent of its total budget unspent, down from 6.35 percent the prior year. Trustee James detailed a town proposal to renovate the Morrison Drive public safety building, then the rectory, then rebuild the senior center in place, calling a long-vacant former police station shell "huge" and "in exceptional condition." Trustees said no project manager has been assigned to a resident-donated gazebo, with Andrew noting "there's certain things that he said that didn't happen, and they didn't happen" about a separate landscaping vendor.
A discussion on prioritizing new state aid funding was pushed to the board's September 17 meeting.
