Mendon Board Seeks Water-Supply Fix For Daycare
Board of Health · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Mendon Board of Health weighs relief for daycare's well crisis. Owners Danielle Burns and A.J. Byrne of Just A Wee Day told the board their Uxbridge Road child care center was ordered to secure a public water supply just three days before opening, on top of a roughly $1 million property loan.
Health Agent Colleen Strapponi said the state Department of Environmental Protection is willing to enter an administrative consent order letting the center keep operating while it drills a new well, since the current well sits only 50 feet from the building, short of the required 100 feet. Strapponi said the septic system, designed for 430 gallons a day, is being taxed by roughly 600 gallons of daily use. Initial E. coli and coliform test results came back clean.
