Mendon Select Board authorizes $175,000 more for snow removal, braces for a costly school override. Highway Superintendent Pete told the board an overnight storm burned through 283 tons of salt at a cost of $22,000, pushing the snow and ice account $21,000 past its already-exhausted $125,000 budget; the board voted unanimously, 4-0, to let the department keep deficit spending. Town Administrator Jeremy warned the Mendon-Upton Regional School District's fiscal 2027 budget could run $1 million to $2 million above the $560,000 increase already programmed, saying "my goal is to minimize the override ask." The board also opened discussion on converting the elected town clerk and tree warden positions to appointed roles ahead of spring town meeting, and approved an updated employee policy manual, effective March 5, 2026, capping vacation rollover at two weeks.
