Mendon's Board of Health voted to tighten its senior trash-discount program, cutting the qualifying household size from four residents to two and creating a new appeal process.
Board of Health · Meeting of October 28, 2026
Mendon's Board of Health voted to tighten its senior trash-discount program, cutting the qualifying household size from four residents to two and creating a new appeal process. Chairman Alan Greenberg, Vice-Chairman Tom Fichtner and Member Joyce Gilmore were unanimous; Health Agent Colleen Strapponi said the looser four-person rule had shifted "a little bit more financial burden" onto non-senior ratepayers. Separately, Carl Hummel, vice chair of the General Bylaw Review Committee, told the board its noise bylaw, tabled at the October 17 Special Town Meeting, will return with more public hearings before spring Town Meeting, with fines set at $100 for a second violation and $300 for subsequent violations, enforced under a 21D citation process.
The board also consolidated its November meetings into a single session on November 18 at 6 p.m.
