Select Board · Meeting of May 28, 2026
Mendon Select Board installs new chair, approves $115,000 in grants, and learns bridge funding fell through. Michael Merolli was elected chair by roll call Wednesday as outgoing chair Jason Kuter stepped aside, with Alejna Brugos confirmed as vice chair; newly elected member Brian Morford joined for the first time, leaving Brendan Chenelle the only absent member. The board accepted a state Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness 2.0 grant of $100,000 for climate resiliency planning and a $15,000 AARP Community Challenge grant, embargoed until June 24, to fund a "Digital Connections" digital literacy program for seniors through the Council on Aging.
Town Administrator Jeremy reported that Mendon was denied approximately $1 million in small bridge repair grant funding from MassDOT for the Providence Street culvert, with the town intending to proceed using existing debt authorization and pursue the next grant window; State Representative Brian Murray was contacted the same day. The board also voted to post all expiring committee vacancies for at least 45 days and committed to launching that outreach process in January in future years.
