Water study confirms adequate supply, identifies treatment needs
Water Commission · Meeting of February 5, 2026
MENDON — Water Commission reviews water system study results. Engineers from Woodward & Curran presented prolonged pump-test findings confirming sufficient groundwater with no detected PFAS or volatile organic compounds, though iron and manganese levels require treatment via green sand filtration. Chair Kevin Rudden and the commission approved the 2026 Annual Report and authorized the chair to sign the 23 Cape Road easement.
The hydraulic model shows commissioners prioritizing Cape Road connection in phase one to reduce dependence on Hopedale water service. Current funding is expected through mid-year, with new grant applications planned to sustain the project.
