Mendon Planning Board Unanimously Amends 35 Cape Road Decision to Remove Permit Error

Mendon Planning Board votes unanimously to strip special permit language from a two-year-old site plan review decision for 35 Cape Road. The board, presided over by Vice Chairman Damon Tinio, invoked the rule of necessity twice, once to allow conflicted members to participate and once to achieve a valid quorum, before approving the corrective amendment at its June 17 meeting. Town Planner Dylan Lindholm confirmed all substantive conditions of the original approval remain in place and that any future special permit application for the site would require a full new public hearing. The board also discussed shifting decision-drafting to applicants' attorneys, with Lindholm in a review role, to prevent similar template errors going forward.
